Born in Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Lungu graduated from „Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy of Cluj-Napoca, Romania in Orchestral and Choral Conducting and earned his Master’s degree at the same Academy under guidance of well known romanian Maestros: Petru Sbârcea (former student of famous Sergiu Celibidache), Florentin Mihăescu, Gheorghe V. Dumănescu, Cornel Groza and others. He also studied with Mihail Secikin and attended a few Master Classes, such as International Bach Academy sustained by Christfried Brödel, the ones led by Maestro Octav Calleya and Emily Freeman Brown.

In 2002 Vladimir Lungu joined the Romanian National Opera of Cluj-Napoca and during the next five years he made a lot of debuts, conducting various opera and ballet performances.

Between 2007-2015 Vladimir Lungu was conductor of the Mersin State Opera (Turkey) and since 2009 held the position of Music Director. He conducted an impressive list of opera and ballet works, both classical and turkish, including world and local premieres and various concerts.

As a guest conductor Vladimir Lungu collaborated with major Romanian Orchestras including Bucharest National Opera, Iasi National Opera, Cluj-Napoca Hungarian Opera, Constanta Opera, The National Radio Orchestra of Bucharest, The “Transylvania” Philharmonic Orchestra of Cluj and Philharmonic Orchestras of Iasi, Sibiu and Oradea, The National Philharmonic of the Republic of Moldova, important Turkish Orchestras including Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya and Samsun Opera Houses and Philharmonic Orchestras of Izmir, Adana and Eskisehir. He participated frequently at highly prestigious Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival, Mersin International Music Festival,  Istanbul Opera Days, Eskisehir National Opera and Ballet Days, Sibiu Opera Festival, Musical Autumn of Cluj Festival and was awarded with the “Conductor of the Year” distinction in 2013 by Turkey Lions Club Opera Awards.

In 2016 Vladimir Lungu recorded works of american composer Steven Lebetkin with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

Recently Vladimir Lungu started his didactic activity at Izmir State Conservatoire.
